PRAYER + FAST

Join us as we begin the year on our knees. During the week of January 25 - 31 we will be participating in 7 days of prayer and fasting. We would like to encourage you to join us for the week to hear from God.

JANUARY 25 - 31

Each night this week at 7PM online we will engage in a time of prayer together.

  • Prayer and fasting are biblical practices that help us humble ourselves before God, seek His guidance, and realign our hearts with His will. Throughout Scripture, God’s people fasted and prayed to draw near to Him, to repent, to seek wisdom, and to depend on His power rather than their own (Joel 2:12, Matthew 6:16–18, Acts 13:2). Fasting creates space for deeper prayer, reminding us that we do not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4).

  • Biblical fasting looks different in different contexts. For many young Christians, fasting might mean:

    • Skipping a meal or meals for a set time

    • Fasting from social media, entertainment, or constant noise

    • Choosing simplicity in food rather than total abstinence

The goal isn’t to harm your body—it’s to reduce dependence on comforts so you can increase dependence on God (Matthew 4:4).

If food fasting isn’t wise for you physically or mentally, choose another fast. God cares about wisdom, not performance.

PRAY WITH US

As an organization, we want to know what God’s vision is, what He is saying to our community, and we want to make sure we are doing His will, not ours. During this time we are praying for:

  • As reflected in our pillars, we will be praying for HOPECITY, our leaders, and the city.

  • For us to truly grow, we need support financially. We are specifically praying for a potential building for our HQ and more financial support. Additionally, we are praying for kingdom relationships that will bring financial fruit to our organization.

  • Whatever you stand in need of, give it to Jesus! We are standing with you.
